White Heat

It is some kind of hot here in Virginia since we have not had electricity for the past few days. I am one of the lucky ones and now have it back, Thank God for that.  I  can not tell you how thankful I am for electricity, air-conditioning and refrigeration, you never know how important things are in your life until you don't have them. Well if you are trying to create a little heat wave  of you own try pairing turquoise and tribal accents with your all white classics.  I was excited for the chance to wear my birthday wedges again and as you can see they match my manicure because I am just in love with the watermelon color trend of the summer.  As a matter of fact there is nothing better then a ice cold watermelon on a hot summer day, as we have found out over the last couple of days. If you like it, this new vibrant color is called "Monsooner than Later" So bust out some brights with your whites and create some heat of your own.

Michelle Obama Mondays: An American Tapestry

Hearing about the American Tapestry book about Michelle Obama's long american lineage reminded me of this fabulous tapestry like dress that the first lady wore while taking a stroll with her husband.  The cut is so timeless and effortlessly elegant, while the poppy vintage inspired pattern keeps it fresh.  I love how she boldly paired this green and blue dress with these great lavender pumps. Such an unexpected choice but so cute. Adding a pop of contrasting color gives this formal look a funky twist. Go Michelle, get funky with it!

W2W: What 2 Wear on July 4th

If you are looking for what to wear on the 4th of July, I say go for the red, white and blue basics. Take a note from celebrities everywhere and throw on a pair of brightly colored pants or if you are going out on the town to make some fireworks of your own then throw on a fablous monochromatic dress with a hot pair of sandals.  Here I am dressed for the forth, with my bright blue pants that my mom picked up for me from Ross for $14 for my birthday.  I wanted to add another color to my red, white and blue palette so I chose to add the watermelon Alfani wedges that I got for my birthday from Macy's. By sticking with the basics you will light up the room and feel patriotic at the same time. Go out and make some sparks of your own.

Tote to Self

Tote to self or more like note to self: Kiss My Husband! This beautiful coach bag was my birthday gift from my family.  My wonderful husband and my very awesome children snuck into my closet and made a photo montage of my purses so that they would select one that was different then the ones I already had and since they know I hate to pay full price for anything, they even picked it up at the outlet at 80% off. Aren't they the cutest! I am so blessed I have the best family ever!

Well I wish I could have had a camera handy to take a shot of  how huge this tree was when it was lying across our road after the storm ransacked our area.  The storm that came through was massive but it was no match for me and my community, even in my pajamas at 7:30 am, as you see me pictured above (where is a makeup artist when you need one, this pic was taken after we had been cleaning outside for 2 hours).  The community came outside in droves as they woke and we walked around clearing each others yards.  It started as as clearing our own yards, then as we walked around to start making sure that everyone else was ok and then as we saw issues we starting clearing debris from each others yards.  This is what a good community feels like and it was awsome.  This pile behind me was just one of three brush piles we made out of the tree laying across the road and on top of my neighbors mustang. These are the days you are thank for good looking pajamas. You never know when a look outside will turn into a community event.  Soon to following the storm was the largest electrical outage Virginia has ever encountered not related to a hurricane, but we made it through.

Birthday Bond- Bond 45 That Is

I had such a fantastic time for my birthday celebration at Bond 45 on the National Harbor. My husband Lorenzo is so cute he made sure to make it an event.  Most of the trip I wasn’t allowed to bring my phone so I had to rely on the photos of others but the night was too good not to share. Here are a few pic that he took of me and my mom before we left. I this is one of my favorite thrifted finds. I picked this baby up for this very occasion earlier in the year for $15 at the Salvation Army. It still had  the tags on it form Nordstrom’s and let’s just say I saved well over $100.  I picked up the heals in Vegas last year and the earring are from the  Banana Republic Outlet.

Well after the photos we were off to the National Harbor and the Chesapeake Orchestra was playing before the sunset. It was such a perfect day.

It was such a nostalgic venue, with its pub like feel and its old world opulence. Even though the menu and the venue was  defiantly upper echelon the casual dress code and comfortable environment just made you feel at ease.

Lorenzo arranged for us to sit in their atrium so that we could see the sunset and we had the Lobster Surf & Turf with Filet Minot and my husband had the T-bone steak, artichokes, asparagus, jalapenos and potatoes. We finished of the dinner with a cappuccino and the largest piece of tiramisu I had ever had.  Bond 45 has a little outdoor patio where you can take breather so we just relaxed for a moment and took it all in while listening to the local singers swoon away.

When it seemed the night couldn’t get any better, Ren took me down to walk on the peir and all the sudden their was a huge fire work disply at the Gaylord hotel.  He siad that he arranged it all for me, the orchistra, the sunset and the foreworks. He is so silly I know he didn’t but it was sure was a great planning job.  If you want to have a night like mine during the summer the National Harbor does fireworks evety Saturday night around 9:30 after sunset. The also show free movies and have lots of entertainment for the summer check out this website so that you to can enjoy their great summer nights. As for us, we just walked at lettle more and sat down on the peir together, it was a perfect evening.

Michelle Obama Monday: Now That is How You Sing the Blues

President Obama and the first lady attended a star studded campaign fund raiser at the Manhattan home of actor Sarah Jessica Parker earlier this month where elite celebrities rallied together in support for our future. The night seemed to be a success based on the amount raised and so was the navy cocktail dress that Mrs. O wore to match her husband. It was really the wide studded belt and her turquoise and gold accessories that glammed the look up. Go Mrs. O.
I think I will have to see if I can do a remix this summer with those colors too. Keep an eye out for it.

Navy + Turquoise + Gold= Stunning
