Living the Suite Life in 100 Ways: Watch 3 Documentaries

Completed #62: Watched 3 out of 3 documentaries

The Run, Ricky, Run documentary caught my attention this evening, as my oldest son and I perused Netflix. My son had never seen this Ricky Williams play and since he was a legend after playing at the University of Texas (my favorite college football team), so before he left we had to watch it so he could see the sheer genius of his athleticism. This movie is a very honest look into Ricky Williams life and disjointed background and decision making.  I enjoyed this documentary because it portrayed him as a man on a journey, not a super hero nor a crazy person. Just a man trying to work his way through his past to find better future.  I wish us all luck in tapping into our better self and I pray that Ricky has a great life and future in medicine as he strives to be come a healer.  Thats one more for my 100 Suite Ways to Live Life List.

Summer is drawing down, and school is just around the corner, my son was visiting for the summer and we only had a few more outings before he heads back to school, so we squeezed in one last trip to Bethany Beach just as the season ends. Maybe you’re your like me and you are planning another road trip to retreat with your friends! Wherever you plan to roam, here are 5 tips from Women of Faith to make your trip a good one.
  1. If you’re traveling by car or RV, have your vehicle serviced to make sure it’s road-worthy. Check your tire pressure—all your tires, including the spare. (While you’re at it, make sure you’ve got everything you need to change a flat . . . just in case.)
  2. Take plenty of breaks; experts recommend stopping every couple of hours—in a safe place, of course. Get out and walk around. Do a few stretches. It will keep you more alert and more comfortable.
  3. Save money (and avoid empty calories) by packing a cooler of healthy snacks and drinks. If you get hungry on a long, deserted stretch of road you’ll have food at your fingertips…and if you see a roadside fruit stand along the way, the cooler will give you a place to stash those fresh-off-the-tree peaches.
  4. Create a road trip playlist or pack plenty of CDs of upbeat music to help you stay awake and energized. Or consider taking along audio books—nothing makes the time go by like someone telling you a good story.
Here are a few pics from out trip and I got to knock a few items off my Living the Suite Life in 100 Ways like:
  • #6. Take a vacation with kids
  • #58. Take a road trip with the family and take a lot of pictures
  • #66. Build a giant sand castle or merman
  • #90. Go to the beach
#58. Take a road trip with the family and take a lot of pictures

We had better luck turning Jalen into a merman then building our sandcastle but it was fun. I know he looks a mess but don't worry the sand came off and so we took a nap. This was a great trip!

TT: Its a Jungle Out There

Trend Translation:
Jungle Print

It can be a jungle out there in the job market so you need to look the part when coming up against the animals.  I took inspiration from Philipp Plains summer urban jungle collection for my tropical business outfit when I was preparing to walk into the lions den for a meeting.  Believe me when I say that my gold snake skin pumps weren't the only snakes in the room.  After that meeting they were singing my praises from the tree tops.  Oh Yeah, thats right "You Tarzan, Me JANE"! That right ladies, being a strong woman is a powerful thing so don't be afraid to let the lioness come out in the board room (or in your wardrobe).

W2W: To a Pool Party

(pic)

What should you do on a hot summer day or night?  Well why not go to the pool?  If you are tired of watching movies and letting these hot summer days pass you by then meet up with some of your friends and have a pool party.  No matter if you are meeting at the community pool for happy hour, throwing a twilight birthday bash or lounging at the day club pool in Vegas as the Cosmopolitan like I have done recently, dress up for the occasion.

The bright, monochromatic looks of the summer that we have seen this season are a great option for any late night get together.  You can dress them up like J-Lo with a pair of nude or animal print pumps or dress them down like me with some great sandals.  Either way you will be looking hot like the night!

Grubbing with Grandma & Grandpa at the Kiwi Cafe

The food speaks for itself here at the Cassatt's Kiwi Cafe in Arlington, Virginia, as you can see in the pictures. I had a great little time in this trendy little cafe with my grandparents a few weeks back when we took some time out to grab a snack.  It sure is great to be near family.  I served overseas for 10 years so I appreciate the chance to spend just a few minutes with family when I can.  I don't think you can go wrong here, the prices were right and the food was fantastic. As you can see we got the eggs benedict with ham and one with salmon, as well as the french toast. Let me just say that my mouth is watering just thinking about it. So next time you are in town, you will have to check it out.

Happy Birthday SuiteLife!

I am so excited its our B-day!!  It was only 1 year ago I started this work blog and look how far we have come.  I have given the page a minor facelift just for the occasion, so let me know how you like the changes.  There I was last August looking on the web for affordable career fashion inspiration for a mature, curvy, career professional like myself and I just couldn't find it.  It was then in that moment that I decided to start this blog, so that other professional women would have a place to come to check out all of the new fashion trends and see how real women are translating them affordably.  SuiteLife is a creative platform where we have fun with our career smart fashion. Dressing for work doesn't need to be boring!  So whether we are remixing older outfits in a trendy new way, or planning outfits for an upcoming work related event or just dressing for the hectic life of a professional working woman, SuiteLife will be here to inspire your journey.  I wore this dress my first post and it has brought me great luck , so here it is remixed for the summer.  Thank you for joining me on my ride from the streets to the executive suite.  Sharing your comments and photos have brought me great joy this past year and I look forward to many more great post and fashion adventures together.

To make this site work for you what would you like to see more of in order for you to jump start your career smart wardrobe this year?
